About Carolina Redd

Born into performance and raised on rhythm. Redd a rapper, model
and actress whose creative journey began long before she ever
touched her own microphone.

In elementary school, she I already immersed in the growing hip-hop culture as the youthful mascot for Perpetual Motion, a local breakdancing crew in Johnstown, PA. The group performed on their own television show that aired on Channel 6, marking my first exposure being filmed on a popular cable tv show.

That experience encouraged the already existing decision of a lifelong commitment to entertainment industry. Growing up, she fully expected to become a famous singer and actress, and those early years surrounded by dancers and televised performances only deepened her love for the stage.

Carolina Redd, also credited as Melissa Fortune, is a Charlotte, NC
rapper, actress, and model, now Atlanta-based since 2014.

(I filmed multiple episodes of what was at that time a popular cable show but unfortunately, I'm unable to discover any footage of myself yet. I actually just got the photo of the Breakers so hopefully I will discover those photos of myself soon. Obviously, the dancers were the Stars, but even at that young age I was there and put in work too)

As my voice and perspective evolved, that dream transformed into a passion for rap — a shift that would define much of my creative life. From that point forward, I pursued hip-hop with intensity and purpose, dedicating myself to writing, recording, and performing while expanding my artistic range.

As a young adult I was tapped to be one of the founding board members of MC Lyte’s Hip Hop Sisters, working alongside fellow spitfire MC's Mecca, Atlas and Phlaque. Through this platform, I further embedded myself in the culture, advocating for women in hip-hop while continuing to develop my own voice.

Along the way, I added modeling & acting to my résumé, building a multifaceted career rooted in performance and storytelling. My body of work includes appearances in an ABC film, numerous recordings, performances and multiple mixtapes — each reflecting my commitment, persistence, versatility, and
LOVE for the craft.

While mainstream superstardom was not the final outcome I once envisioned, my career stands as a testament to longevity, resilience, and genuine dedication to the arts. Now, as I finally got around to digitizing my portfolio and preserving my creative legacy that spans decades. My story is not one of unrealized ambition, but of a life spent courageously pursuing art, contributing to hip-hop culture, and showing up — again and again — for the dream that first found
me as a child.

Today I continue to build on that legacy as I proceed to strive for
excellence in everything I do.
